Engaging, informative, bright visuals

I'm a speech therapist and I can't wait to share this with the kids. There are so many talking points for group discussion with my students. The visuals are bright and keep the message positive and funny. The dinosaurs do all the mess making, so I know my students will be able to positively discuss the social lessons in the story.

A Roaring Good Time: Teaching Manners Through Prehistoric Pandemonium

I have three kids, 6, 4, and 2 - each one loves this book for a different reason! Dinner has been especially painful (unless I distract with tv…), this book was a great introduction for setting dinner expectations in our home.

Here is what makes this book a standout:

  • Relatable Humor: Children will absolutely love the silly antics and the sheer absurdity of massive dinosaurs throwing tantrums and making messes at the table. The humor keeps them highly engaged from start to finish.
  • Gentle Instruction: Rather than being preachy, the book uses Jimmie’s patient guidance to model good behavior. The dinosaurs learn to pass food politely, say "please" and "thank you," and chew with their mouths closed—all practical lessons delivered without a heavy hand.
  • Engaging Pacing: The use of repeated phrases makes it highly accessible and interactive for early readers, allowing them to anticipate what comes next and join in on the fun.

Ultimately, When You Take a Dinosaur to Dinner strikes the perfect balance between education and entertainment. It is an excellent tool for parents, teachers, and caregivers who want to reinforce good dinner behavior while sharing a few well-earned giggles.

The Verdict: Highly recommended for little readers who love dinosaurs and for any adult looking for a memorable, stress-free way to talk about table manners!
